Teaching experience:
Teaching/tutoring history to date. Please include specifics such as school taught at, subjects covered and any specific achievements within these roles:
I have tutored with three different tutoring agencies over the last three years. I have taught students in a range of different proficiency levels, including English as second language, 11+ English, GCSE and English A-level. I specialise in tutoring students for Oxbridge applications for English Language and Literature. I have a 100% acceptance rate for 8 students tutored.
Teaching style and philosophy:
My objective when teaching is always, regardless of the level being taught, to explore a student’s personal interest in English and nourish it. Beyond teaching grammar and literary devices, I like to provide personalised reading lists and adapt sessions to the student’s own interest. For Oxbridge admissions in particular I believe students excel when their curiosity and individual interest in their subject shines through.
Additional information:
Outside of my degree I spent most of my time filmmaking and indulging in all things film. I also believe film can be an important tool for exploring literary texts in their adapted form and breeding criticism on how filmmakers decided to do so. When I studied the Shakespeare paper during my degree I found my most successful work was completed by re-evaluating the same well-studied plays and looking at them through a new lens via film adaptations.
I am based in Buckinghamshire and am willing to go to London for in-person sessions occasionally but my preference is for online sessions.
