Teaching experience
PGCE at Oxford University, teaching science in secondary schools within Oxford. 2 years experience teaching science in Ealing Fields High School, London. 3 years experience tutoring in person/online for students in and around my area of Berkshire, I’ve had a total of 10 GCSE students and 1 A Level chemistry student over the years. I have usually started with my students from year 8/9 and taken them through to their GCSE exams. I have been involved in SENCO training for students with autism, anxiety, and ADHD to make me better equipped to teach students with special educational needs.
Teaching style and philosophy
I take on a more open-minded adaptable approach to tutoring. I see my sessions as an opportunity for the student to discover their weaknesses and strengths, what elements they find hard/enjoyable, and work together to find ways to improve. Each student had different needs and different aspects to celebrate. I like the idea of supporting my students academically, motivating them to want to work harder and more efficiently, through identifying their strengths. I think consistency is key, with weekly sessions making the student accountable.
Additional information
I am based outside of London, in Berkshire, however I’ve spent the last 2 years commuting into London with no worry. I’d happily do online sessions/occasionally commute into London. However I do believe online provides a more preferable work ethic. Hobbies include anything adventure - hiking, running, camping. As well as cooking, reading, arts and crafts.
