Teaching and tutoring experience
Tutoring and teaching since 2019. Tutoring history includes Harrow entry exams in Maths and Science, GCSE and A-Level Maths exams and resits, and also GCSE Science. Teaching history includes one year training at Wood Green in Witney then three years teaching at Berkhamsted. I taught Maths at both with sports coaching, pastoral lead, and chaplaincy work at Berkhamsted. Worked with remedial students up to coaching high-attainment students winning national awards.
Teaching style and philosophy
I always try to build a relational understanding, especially in Maths. If you can understand why a principle or concept works, you’ll be great mathematician. If you can understand why and how it relates to the rest of your understanding, you’ll go that much further! Using analogies and building connections between numeric, algebraic, graphic and geometric representations is powerful, especially when you have the time and space to do so in a tutoring environment. Also taking time to build up from first principles avoids errors and makes it that much more memorable.
Additional information
My degree background is in Earth Sciences, so Physics and Chemistry are also within my scope for tutoring. I work as a data analyst and have taught myself to code for data applications. I am based in Camden and willing to teach/tutor within London or tutor remotely.
