Teaching and tutoring experience

- Worcester College, University of Oxford (Oct 2021 – May 2022); Lecturer of Medicine (The Nervous System)
In this role, I delivered neurosciences tutorials to undergraduate students in the final
year of their BA Medical Sciences.I built upon my strong organisational skills and ability to convey complex information and concepts clearly to deliver tutorials across a broad range of cellular and systems neuroscience topics.

I was responsible for marking essays in which I utilised my comprehensive understanding of primary literature in the field to give insightful and constructive Comments. My students went on to achieve high marks in their exams, with one student achieving the prestigious Gibbs prize for Medicine (top of the academic year).

- MyTutor (Sept 2019 – present); Online Tutor
I deliver online tuition to students from KS3 up to A level in Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Further Mathematics. I also provide tailored support for students through the university admissions process and for medical admissions tests (BMAT
and UCAT). I am individually responsible for crafting personalised lesson plans for individual students of differing abilities and learning needs (dyslexia, dyscalculia) across a wide
range of subjects.

- Over 1300 hours of lessons completed.
- Overall 5 star feedback with proven results of student success and achievements.

Teaching style and philosophy

I thoroughly enjoy both the learning and teaching process. I believe it’s critically important that questions are encouraged to stimulate an active learning process; this is something I try to cultivate in my tutoring sessions. I hope to provide valuable assistance to my students and allow them to develop their understanding in a dynamic learning environment at their own pace. I usually find it most helpful initially if the student has some subject/topic specific questions that we can discuss and work through. We can then develop a plan and time frame to ensure that goals are met, and particularly problematic areas are adequately covered. I will often use relevant past paper questions to direct the session; I can then divulge into further detail of a subject if it has not been clearly understood. I also encourage active student feedback so that my teaching style can be tailored to how the student feels they work best.

Additional information

- I have provided face-to-face tutorials for multiple students starting in my second year of Sixth Form.
- I lived in Italy for 3 months (Sept 2017 – Dec 2017) as an au pair for a family with young children (3, 5, 7 years old) and helped teach them English.

- I am based in East London and happy to tutor in and around London. I am also happy to travel further if residential tutoring jobs are available.
